First time flying!

It’s hard for me to believe that it has taken THIS LONG for me to take my first flight - especially since I’ve had a desire to fly (and leave the country!) for the last decade. My first flight was five days ago from Toronto, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia for the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) conference. I am currently (quite literally) on the trajectory to leave Canada for the first time now. I’m apparently 10,363 meters in the sky as I’m writing this blog post. It’s an incredible feeling!
Some pictures during my time in Halifax, Nova Scotia:
I landed back in Toronto earlier this morning from Halifax. After a brief visit with my family (thankfully they brought me my Go-Pro gear!), I’m on the way to Hanoi, Vietnam, with a brief stopover in Tokyo, Japan. I will be working with HealthBridge Foundation of Canada at their Vietnam office for the next three months. Looking out of the window right now as I’m writing this blog post, I’ve gotta say… it’s pretty surreal! (Note: I’m currently right around Inuvik, just north of Whitehorse).
Taking flight! From Toronto to Tokyo:
I want to see hidden potential in any given situation. That’s what led me to choose this practicum placement as my top choice. Not only is this a chance to work with an incredible organization for a very important cause, it’s an opportunity for me to gain life experience - to explore a new country and culture firsthand (something I’ve never experienced). I’m excited to see what opportunities and adventures I’ll be able to gain during my time in Hanoi.
Whatever the case may be during my time in Southeast Asia, I will strive to make the most out of my experience. And since I have no commitments after my practicum is completed at the end of August, I’ve given myself the ultimate flexibility: a one-way ticket.
For the next three months, it’s just Me, Myself, and ‘Nam!
